Coffee

☕️ 12 Cafés to Keep the Coffee Celebrations Going

Last week gave us two reasons to celebrate — National Coffee Day on September 29 and International Coffee Day on October 1. But honestly, why stop there? Coffee season is every season in Niagara-on-the-Lake. From cozy corners to lively patios, here are the 12 local cafés that keep us fuelled year-round:

Whether you’re marking Coffee Week a little late or just looking for your next pick-me-up, NOTL’s café scene has plenty to keep you sipping.

The Kent Lounge – Queenston’s Little Secret 👀

Over the summer, a new space quietly opened its doors in town—and unless you’ve been tipped off by a friend, chances are you haven’t heard of it. Hidden inside the Kent Motel, The Kent Lounge feels more like something you’d stumble across in a city back alley than right here in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Think cozy lighting, modern design, coffee in the morning, and cocktails once the sun goes down.

It’s the kind of spot that doesn’t shout for attention, and maybe that’s what makes it so appealing. There’s a charm in finding a place that feels like it wasn’t made for tourists or big groups, but rather for those who like something a little off the beaten path. The Lounge is open Friday through Sunday from 8 AM to 8 PM, making it the perfect weekend stop—whether you’re looking for a quiet morning coffee, a spot to read in the afternoon, or a low-key evening hangout.

Now, here’s the tricky part. As much as we want to encourage you to pay them a visit (because they truly deserve it), we also kind of want to keep this one between us locals. 👀 Some things are just better when they’re a little hidden—and The Kent Lounge might be one of the best-kept secrets in NOTL right now.

AND… on Saturday, NOTL News and a few of our coffee loving friends will be making another trip to The Kent Lounge to show our support! Maybe we will see you there!

Food/Drink

The Garrison House 🍽️

Tucked right across from Jackson-Triggs Winery, The Garrison House has earned a reputation as one of Niagara’s true gems for casual fine dining. Known for their locally inspired menu and hearty pub classics, it’s the kind of spot where you can grab a pint with friends or settle in for a full meal that feels like a treat. From their famous house burger to seasonal features that showcase Niagara’s produce, there’s always something fresh on the menu.

It’s also a gathering place — lively on weekends, warm and relaxed during the week, and always welcoming whether you’re a regular or popping in for the first time. If you haven’t been yet, The Garrison House is a must-visit on your NOTL food list.
