❄️ Winter Is Starting in NOTL

The first snowfall earlier this week was light, but it did its job — winter has officially stepped into the conversation. Morning drives are colder, the vineyards have a thin frost, and hot drinks suddenly feel a lot more necessary than optional.

As the season settles in, we’ll keep you posted on things to do around town during the winter — from cozy spots to local events and everything in between.

For now, with the temperatures dropping, it felt like the perfect time to round up a few of our favourite local breakfast spots. Perfect for a chilly morning.

🥞 Top 5 Breakfast Spots in NOTL

Whether you’re starting early, meeting a friend, or fuelling up before a busy Saturday around town, these five breakfast spots always deliver — each in their own way.

A NOTL staple. Big portions, friendly staff, and exactly the kind of classic diner-style breakfast locals have trusted for years. It’s the quintessential “Saturday morning in Virgil” stop.

2. Niagara Juice Co. (Old Town) — Best Breakfast Sandwich in Town

A fresh, buttery croissant with egg and cheese — simple, fresh, and genuinely one of the best quick breakfasts in town. Pair it with a smoothie or juice and you’re out the door with a solid start to the day.

3. Sunset Grill (Old Town)

Consistent, quick, and open early. Sunset is where you go for a straightforward, no-surprises diner breakfast: pancakes, bacon, toast, home fries — always reliable.

4. Stagecoach Family Restaurant (Queen Street, Old Town)

A cozy, home-style spot right in Old Town. Simple plates, friendly service, and a slower pace make it a great option if you want a classic breakfast without the busyness of the main tourist strip. It’s one of those places locals keep coming back to because it just feels like home.

5. The Cannery Restaurant at Pillar & Post — Best Breakfast Buffet in NOTL

For mornings when you want something a little nicer. The Cannery offers a full breakfast buffet with pastries, eggs, bacon, fruit, coffee and more — all served in a warm, classic dining room. Great for visiting family or a relaxed weekend start.

📸 New NOTL Sign in Old Town

If you’ve driven through Old Town this week, you may have noticed something very hard to miss — the brand-new NOTL sign at the corner of Queen and King, right by Simcoe Park. And yes… it looks incredible.

Bright, bold, and impossible to walk past without taking a photo, this has instantly become one of the most popular new landmarks in town. Tourists will flock to it, locals will pretend they’re too cool for it (until they inevitably grab a photo), and it adds a huge boost of energy to one of the busiest corners in NOTL.

Instagram post

If you haven’t seen it yet, take a detour this weekend and check it out for yourself. The new NOTL sign at Simcoe Park is impossible to miss — a bright addition to one of the busiest corners in Old Town. Whether you’re out for a walk or grabbing a coffee nearby, it’s worth taking a moment to see what’s new.

Expect to start seeing it all over Instagram very soon.

📅 National Days — November 14

November 14th comes with a surprisingly entertaining mix of national days — and honestly, the lineup is chaotic in the best way.

🚗 National Seat Belt Day

National Seat Belt Day is a timely reminder as the roads get colder. Click, clack, stay intact — especially with winter settling in.

🛌 National Family PJ Day

National Family PJ Day, is the perfect November holiday. Throw on your coziest flannel set, embrace the early sunsets, and don’t feel bad about being in pyjamas by 6 p.m. We support it.

*P.S. if you are looking for some awesome PJ’s in NOTL, check out Hatley in Old Town! They have some great picks!

🌶️ National Spicy Guacamole Day

National Spicy Guacamole Day is a bold mid-week plot twist. If you needed an excuse to add a little heat to dinner tonight, here you go. Jalapeños, avocados, lime — the whole thing.

🥒 National Pickle Day

National Pickle Day is arguably the most niche of the bunch, but a fun one. Dill, sweet, crunchy, brined — however you enjoy them, today’s the day to proudly be “the pickle person” in your friend group.

A random mix of celebrations, but somehow… extremely November.
