TODAY IN NOTL
🌥️ Weather
Happy Friday, NOTL! Grab your umbrella tomorrow — Saturday's looking like a full-on car wash out there with 25-35 mm of rain headed our way. The good news? The sun starts making a comeback by Monday, and we're cruising into the low 20s by midweek. Spring has finally remembered where we live.

You may have seen some geese roaming around town, and it seems they have officially started walking slower than the speed limit with the intent to cause trouble. Bold of them to assume they own this town. Then again, they might be right.
They scare me…
Lets get into the news👇

🍓 The Market at the Village is Back
It's officially market season.
The Market at the Village opens this Saturday, May 23, with the full 2026 season kicking off on May 30. Every Saturday through October 3, from 8 AM to 1 PM, at Clayfield Commons Market Square in the Village (25 Clayfield Commons).

The market is all about getting local food into local hands, so expect fresh produce, baked goods, preserves, and all the stuff that makes your grocery store trips feel a little less exciting by comparison.
Whether you're stocking up for the week or just grabbing a coffee and doing a lap, it's the kind of morning that reminds you why you live here. We'll see you out there.

🏅 Municipal Election Nominations Are Open
The 2026 municipal election is officially underway.
Nominations opened on May 1 and candidates can file their papers at Town Hall (1593 Four Mile Creek Road) until August 21, 2026. Up for grabs this year are the Lord Mayor seat, eight councillor positions, and school board trustee seats.

A few candidates have already thrown their hats in the ring, including Vaughan Goettler and Andrea Kaiser for Lord Mayor, and Weston Miller and Steve McGuinness for Town Council.
Voting day is Monday, October 26, 2026, and if you want to make sure you're ready, you can confirm your voter registration now at registertovoteon.ca. More candidates are expected to file before the August deadline, so stay tuned

💨 The Wind in the Willows at the Shaw
The Shaw Festival's newest family show opens next week.
The Wind in the Willows runs from May 22 to September 27 at the Jackie Maxwell Studio Theatre. The story follows young, impressionable Mole as he heads to the riverbank and meets the resourceful Rat, the grumpy Badger, and the irrepressible Mr. Toad. When Toad's passion for fast cars gets him in trouble, the other three must save him.

Adapted and directed by Fiona Sauder, this one is perfect for families and anyone who just wants a fun afternoon at the theatre. Based on the beloved 1908 children's novel, it's a story about friendship, loyalty, and the joy of getting into a little bit of trouble. Grab your tickets at shawfest.com.
