TODAY IN NOTL
βοΈ Weather
Warm start to the weekend with Friday hitting 23Β°, then cooling off into the mid-to-high teens through next week. Low chance of rain across the board, so you're safe to leave the umbrella at home.

The countdown is on. Kids can practically taste summer, teachers are running on fumes, and parents are already Googling "camps near me." Here's what else is going on in NOTL this week.
Lets get into the newsπ

Rod Tennyson and Apollo 13
When Apollo 13's oxygen tank exploded 200,000 miles from Earth, a small team of engineers at the University of Toronto worked around the clock to help NASA bring three astronauts home safely. Rod Tennyson was one of them.

From left to right: Phil Sullivan, Rod Tennyson, Irving Glass, Barry French, and Ben Etkin
Now a Professor Emeritus at U of T's Institute for Aerospace Studies, Tennyson has spent his career working on everything from rocket design to fibre optic sensors to a proposed 8,000 km water pipeline across Africa.
On Thursday, June 4th at 7pm, he's coming to Bethany Mennonite Church in Niagara-on-the-Lake to share the story behind one of the most famous rescue missions in space history.
All are welcome. You don't want to miss this one.

π€ Stay informed with the upcoming Niagara on the Lakeβs Residence Association

Introducing a new, nonβpartisan website created by the NiagaraβonβtheβLake Residents Association to help residents better understand the key issues ahead of the 2026 municipal election. Explore clear, accessible information designed to support informed community participation.

π° Fort George in the Great War
Step back in time this weekend.
Fort George is being transformed into Camp Niagara, a First World War-era training ground, for one weekend only.
Reenactors from across North America will bring the site to life, portraying soldiers, nurses, and civilians from the era. Expect historically accurate encampments, authentic uniforms, live demonstrations, and stories of the Canadians who trained and served during the war.

It's not a lecture. It's an experience.
Whether you're a history buff or just looking for something different to do this weekend, this is one of those events that sticks with you.
Saturday, May 30th and Sunday, May 31st from 10am to 5pm. Admission is included with general entry to Fort George.

π The Market at the Village is Back (Again)
First things first: we got the opening date wrong last week. We apologize for the confusion.
The Market at the Village officially opens this Saturday, May 30th. That's the real date. Mark it down.
Every Saturday from 8am to 1pm through October 3rd, the market will be set up at Clayfield Commons in the Village, bringing together local vendors and local food in one of NOTL's favourite weekend traditions.

If you've been waiting for a reason to slow down your Saturday mornings, this is it. Grab your coffee, browse the stalls, and support the people growing and making right here in our community.
Opening day energy hits different. Don't miss it.
