TODAY IN NOTL
🌤 Weather
By mid-February standards, this is a pretty decent stretch.
Friday sits right around -1° with a mix of sun, cloud, and a chance of flurries. The weekend actually trends milder, with highs climbing into the 1°–2° range and overnight lows dipping down but nothing extreme.
Early next week looks even better, with daytime highs pushing 3°–4°. That’s about as close to a “warm spell” as we get this time of year in NOTL. Midweek brings some rain into the forecast, so enjoy the clearer skies while we have them.
All things considered — not bad for the middle of winter.

❤️ Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day arrives Saturday, and with the weather cooperating (for February, anyway), it’s shaping up to be a nice weekend to get out.
Whether you’ve booked a dinner, are doing a café stop and stroll through Old Town, or grabbing something sweet last minute, the timing works in our favour. A little sunshine and above-freezing temps make it easier to actually enjoy the outing.
However you’re celebrating — date night, Galentine’s, family dinner, or keeping it low-key — it’s a great excuse to support a local spot.
Now, let’s get into the news 👇

♥️ Loving NOTL for 80 Years
Valentine’s Day is almost here — and while most of us think flowers and dinner reservations, there’s another kind of love that shows up quietly every day around town.
At Niagara Motors, that sometimes looks like supporting local charities.
And sometimes… it looks like welcoming a 13-year-old pup named Tank into the showroom.
Yes — dogs (and cats) are welcome!
You might’ve seen Tank making his rounds on their Instagram this week. It’s a small thing, but it says a lot about the kind of place they’ve been for 80 years — local, familiar, and built on relationships.
That same spirit carries into February’s initiatives.
Their Test Drive & Win event is still running through February, and this month it’s built around giving back close to home.
When you test drive a vehicle, you’ll receive:
A guaranteed $10 grocery gift card
An entry to win a $100 gas card
And $10 donated to Newark Neighbours, supporting the local food bank and thrift store right here in Niagara-on-the-Lake
A simple drive can make a real difference.
In the service department, the spirit of giving continues. With every health check and oil change appointment, $10 is donated to SickKids and MacKids, helping support children’s hospitals across our region.
And because it’s still very much winter, qualifying service visits also include a few thoughtful extras — free washer fluid, a snow brush, and a complimentary car wash.
After 80 years in town, Niagara Motors has learned that showing up consistently matters. This February, love isn’t just in the air — it’s on the road, in the service bay, and in support of the community.

New Opening
🌹 Café Lumière
Just in time for Valentine’s weekend, a new glow has arrived in Old Town.
Café Lumière officially held its soft opening on Sunday, February 8th, and it’s already becoming a cozy new stop for locals and visitors alike. Tucked away on Victoria Street, the space offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere — the kind of place you step into to escape the cold, enjoy the atmosphere, and linger for a while
If your Valentine’s plans include a stroll through town, this might be the perfect opportunity. Grab a hot drink settle into a quiet corner and enjoy a new shop in the beautiful town we love so much!
Owner Kinda and her team are excited to welcome the community in, and there’s something special about supporting a brand-new local business in its first week. Be sure to stop in and say hi! 👋
Love may be in the air this weekend — but it might also be in your cup.

On Our Radar
These are a few spots currently on our radar — places we’re keen to spend time at over the next week.
If there’s somewhere we should be trying (or revisiting), let us know. We’re always taking notes.
You might spot us tucked into one of these spots soon.

Twisted Bar is serving up special Valentine’s menus from February 12–14 — a casual, festive spot for a relaxed date night in town.

The Cannery at Pillar and Post, named one of Canada’s most romantic restaurants, is offering an elevated dining experience perfect for Valentine’s.

Aura On The Lake is featuring a curated date night menu — an intimate option for couples looking to try something fun this Valentine’s Day.

The Great (Coffee) Debate
This week, we’re curious about your beverage habits.
We know we’re in wine country — but when the temperatures dip, what’s your go-to hot drink? Coffee and cafés consistently rank among the most talked-about topics in our inbox and around town, so we’re putting it to a vote.
Are we truly a coffee-first community… or does something else take the top spot?
